Photos of the Incredibly Elaborate Women’s Hairstyles of Nigeria

Since 1968 photographer J.D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere has been documenting the incredibly elaborate hairstyles of Nigerian women. Over the years he has amassed nearly 1,000 photos in a series he calls, simply, “Hairstyles.” His photos are on display at Il Palazzo Enciclopedico during the 55th Venice Biennale through November 24, 2013.
